Barbie in the 12 Dancing Princesses Nintendo DS Game
Growing up, I have always been a huge fan of the Barbie animated films, going to the store every month to see if a new DVD was out. However, I was also a big fan of my Nintendo DS, which I felt included me because of the wide range of games that appealed to me and were available on the platform. One of these games was the Barbie in the 12 Dancing Princesses video game tie-in. A lot of these DS game tie-ins would oftentimes be shovelware and wouldn't age well, but this game was really fun! It did not incorporate real plot elements from the film whatsoever, but I found that this was entertaining more than anything. As a child, it kind of scared me because there was some strange, ominous music playing at times and because the princesses were all stuck in different parts of a castle (that scared me). Now, upon revisiting it I think it's great fun, and a decent tie-in with the film, but I just wish it were more related to the film's events. It makes me miss the days when I'd play whatever I enjoyed on my DS, without any fear of what is “good" or “bad", because that never mattered to me anyways.
